Master Jumper Skeleton turns the passage of time into a contemporary expression of mechanical mastery

With three synchronised jumping indications aligned in perfect symmetry, the Master Jumper Skeleton turns the passage of time into a contemporary expression of mechanical mastery. Drawing inspiration from two iconic silhouettes of the Maison—the Long Island and the Cintrée Curvex—the Master Jumper Skeleton is housed in the Long Island Evolution case or the Curvex CX case.

Triple Jumping Complication

An avant-garde interpretation of modern timekeeping, the Master Jumper Skeleton features a groundbreaking triple-jumping complication. Hours, minutes, and date are displayed via a complex mechanism of 5 jumping discs, offering unparalleled readability and a contemporary aesthetic.

At the heart of this timekeeper is the in-house MVT 3100-CS1 movement. The greatest challenge of the Master Jumper is powering the numerical displays. Delivering an instantaneous jump for the hours and minutes requires significant amounts of energy, especially at the hour jump, and even more so at the end of the day when the date jumps as well. Franck Muller’s watchmakers met this with an innovative double-barrel system: the first barrel, located at the lower left, powers the movement and the date mechanism, while the second barrel, positioned at the upper left, drives the minute discs and the hour disc. This clever design ensures consistent torque and flawless precision throughout the power reserve

The jumping hour disc is displayed prominently at 12 o’clock, while two meticulously crafted central discs display the minutes in a middle window. Positioned harmoniously at the base of the dial, the jumping date disc completes the trio, advancing with flawless mechanical precision. This intricate design required the careful integration of five discs while maintaining perfect alignment across three equidistant apertures, a technological triumph that exemplifies Franck Muller’s horological expertise. The watch’s five discs as well as the wheels that drive their motion are all visible through the front of the watch, via a supporting bridge with machined cutouts.

An inner sapphire crystal at the level of the inner bezel also gives three-dimensional depth to the timepiece and is where the three apertures’ frames are directly incorporated. This has allowed us to keep the movement open-worked, while highlighting the “hours,” “minutes” and “date” indications with a high-technology look.

Long Island Evolution

Shaped movements completely utilise all the space within a watch case, making them more appealing visually, but are also a challenge to configure and engineer. The additional inner case of the Long Island Evolution offers added security and shock protection for its movement. The multilayered construction also offers one benefit – it enables the sapphire crystal protecting the display of the watch to be attached to the flange without any visible fixing screws.

The Long Island Evolution design retains the spirit of the original Long Island while injecting a new dynamic to the case. In order to reconstruct the new Long Island Evolution, our master craftsmen deconstructed the original design to bring out a refined proportion highlighting the curves, angles, and fine lines of the Long Island.

Compared with the original Long Island design, the new case incorporates an additional inner case that secures the shaped movements driving the watch. Franck Muller is one of the few watchmakers that can develop movements designed to precisely fit each case, because it designs, engineers, and produces its cases, dials, and movements in-house.

The inner case is made of rose gold, while the titanium outer case has a black PVD treatment with satin-brushing. Luxurious alligator leather straps in matte black feature contrast stitching which complements the watch’s rose gold accents.

Curvex CX

The Curvex CX is a refreshed design which fully accentuates the timeless curves of the Maison’s most distinctive silhouette since 1991, the Cintrée Curvex, taking its already trademark contours to the next level. The completely redesigned Curvex case with a sapphire crystal extending all the way to the bracelet lends a substantially greater visibility to the dial, while a sleek bezel, separate from the case, allows for unique two-tone treatments. The “invisible” bezel also affords increased visibility to the dial by limiting the amount of material used on the sides, a technically challenging feat which injects new life into the classic case shape. With straps directly integrated into the case, the Curvex CX offers enhanced comfort on the wrist.
